Due to their fragile nature, these usually remain unused due to premature death. Nevertheless, there are various anti-waste methods to enjoy their taste qualities for a longer time. Enjoy aromatic herbs for longer thanks to the different storage methods
Parsley is a very popular aromatic herb. It finds its place in most culinary recipes. However, most of them only require a small amount of the herb. Thus, the rest of the bouquet quickly finds its way to the waste bin. So to avoid such an unpleasant scenario, you can store the parsley either in the fridge or in the freezer. The chosen method depends in principle on the desired storage period:
- in the fridge – parsley stays fresh for up to 3 to 5 days;
- in the freezer – it can be stored for up to approximately one year.

Fresh parsley: Store in the refrigerator
So if you plan to use parsley during the week, the best storage option would be in the refrigerator. Here are the steps you need to follow to properly prepare the product.
- Rinse the parsley.
- Pass it through a colander to get rid of all dirt.
- Next, the grass must be dried well. Use a couple of paper towels for this.
- Instead of throwing out used towels, wrap the grass in the already damp paper.
- Then place the wrapped parsley in an airtight bag.
- Cool down.
With this method, the parsley can be stored for about 3 to 5 days thanks to the cool and moist environment.
Store parsley in the fridge for up to 5 days
If, on the other hand, you want to keep parsley longer, it is better to freeze it. It is a practice that does not require much time or effort. Usually, frozen parsley will not be in perfect shape to garnish your dishes. However, the frozen aromatic herb will be in ideal condition for seasoning your sauces and other preparations. Here are some ideas on how to do it.
#In food bags
- Fill a bowl with cold water.
- Pour some vinegar.
- Soak the parsley in this for ten minutes.
- Rinse with clean water a few times and drain.
- Now it is necessary to dry the threads completely. There are two options for this: either put them in a salad spinner or let them dry on a towel. Either way, don’t forget to remove damaged (yellow or dead) leaves.
- When the parsley is completely dry, all that remains is to cut it. In principle, it is better to do this by hand. Because if you put it in, for example, a food processor, the device releases the water from the grass (which is not good to store in the freezer).
- Finally, we put the parsley in food bags. The bags must be closed tightly to remove all the air.
- Put in the freezer and you’re ready.

For the second drying method:
1/ Place the aromatic herb in a layer on a clean, dry cloth.
2/ Cover the parsley with another towel and let it dry completely (overnight).
It is important to dry the parsley completely before putting it in the freezer.
#In the ice cube tray
The other freezer storage option is to make ice cubes. They can be added to soups, sauces and many other recipes. On the other hand, you can make the cubes with water but also with oil. It is so.
- As with the first method, start by washing and drying the parsley.
- Then it’s time to chop it up.
- Fill each section of the ice cube tray with 1 to 1 ½ tsp. on p. chopped parsley.
- Cover with cold water or oil.
- Put the container in the freezer.
