After the holidays, your bank account took a big hit. If you’re a student, maybe you’ve also had trouble ending the month? What if we save money on your plate first? It is possible to cook good meals without breaking the bank. Make the most of your hours scrolling on TikTok and check out these easy, cheap and delicious recipes. A frying pan, a saucepan and a few euros will be enough for you to become a real Top Chef in the kitchenette.
1) Skillet Calzone
Two pizza doughs
Two slices of ham
A splash of olive oil
Pour a splash of olive oil on a frying pan and brown the first pizza dough. Add your slices of ham and the amount of cheese you want. Close with the second pizza dough. Fold in the edges if they stick out and cook on both sides.
The little trick: you can replace the pizza dough with tortillas.
2) Modern shells
Ham (or charcuterie of your choice)
We do not forget the ham and cheese pasta, very famous, especially among students. Except here we’re just pimping them to make them more greedy and aesthetic.
Pour the cooked pasta shells, toppings, cheese into a bowl (which is ovenproof) and mix it all together. Then dig a “well” and pour in an egg. Finish by sprinkling your preparation with cheese of your choice and bake for 5 minutes. Remove from the oven before the egg is fully cooked and it’s ready!
3) Mushroom Risotto
Oil (or fat of your choice)
A clove of garlic,
Vegetable bouillon cube
A glass of risotto rice
Salt, pepper, parsley
Brown onion and chopped garlic in a frying pan and diced mushrooms. Add a glass of risotto rice and stir for 2 to 3 minutes. Add the vegetable stock cube to a glass of water and pour it into the pan. Then add water to cover the mixture. Simmer until the water has evaporated. Serve.
4) Vegetable wrap for the “healthy” side
Fromage blanc (regular)
A piece of tortilla.
Slice the avocados and add the cottage cheese. Pour the juice of half a lemon and mash it all. Spread the mixture on a piece of tortillas, and don’t forget the chicken and the sliced tomatoes. Roll up the sheet, grill both sides on a pan, and enjoy.
5) The day before rice with (leftover) vegetables
Day before rice (Thai rice or basmati)
Vegetables from the rest of the fridge (“there are no rules”, we said).
Half a glass of water,
Soy sauce and a spoonful of cornstarch.
Meat or fish (your choice).
Toast the rice in the fat of your choice on a pan for 5 minutes. Salt and pepper at the end of cooking. Fry the loose vegetables that you have left in the fridge in a frying pan.
Add a tablespoon of soy sauce and a teaspoon of cornstarch to half a glass of water. Mix and pour into the pan (very hot) with the vegetables. Cook the meat.
First, add the cooked vegetables and the meat (or fish) to a small bowl, then press down with the back of a spoon.
The technical step: put a plate on it and turn it all over. Something to add style to your plate.
