Cotentin. Élodie and Valentin’s recipe for happiness, a young restaurant couple

“We will be closed for the holidays until September 22. » Elodie Blondel and Valentin Doraphe are not used to taking a lot of rest, but certain circumstances force you to. It is therefore for a good cause that the couple who skilfully run the “chic bistro” L’Escale des sens in rue Jean Loretsaid “see you soon! to his clients: a wedding planned for the weekend of September 10th and 11th.

That 70 guests had an appointment at 2:30 p.m. the town hall of Carentan-les-Marais, where mayor Jean-Pierre Lhonneur had the good fortune to unite them for life, not without promoting and recalling the history of his municipality.

A treat, of course!

Leaving the town hall under the bubbles, Valentin and Élodie are not used to bubbles, respectively behind the stoves and in the dining room, with long working days from 6:30 to midnight! That is, the osmosis between these two lovebirds, who have certainly found the recipe for happiness.

After the civil ceremony, the procession went to the magnificent estate of La Palombe in Villiers-Fossard. The cocktail reception, photo session and cocktail provided a tasty appetizer for the guests who partied… while they waited for “the meal put together by our friends Malwina Richard Lavielle, the latter a cooking teacher in Lisieux”.

In our July 2021 columns, Valentin confided “having fun making pastry, because it requires a lot of rigor, it’s to the nearest gram”. He therefore got in on the act by preparing the delicious desserts (in the shape of a candy apple) for his own wedding, before igniting the dance floor with Madame Doraphé, surrounded by their friends and families.

“The best products at the best time”

Native Bricquebecthe young chef of 33 years was educated at hotel school in Granvilleworked for four years with featured chef Laurent Cesne at La Marine (Barneville-Carteret)then in Deauville for the Barrière group.

He opened L’Escale des sens in 2015 and advocates instinctive cuisine with a menu that changes every month because “it allows you to work with the best products, especially local ones, at the best time”.
